The 10th Anniversary of the signature event for the Regional HIV/AIDS Connection, “ A Taste for Life” is fast approaching.

This event is without a doubt one of the simplest and most delightful ways to donate to a great cause.

On April 24th, make your reservation at one of 29 participating restaurants. You gather a bunch of friends or family and go out to dinner. The restaurant then donates 25% of the before-tax amount of your bill to the Regional HIV/AIDS Connection. You have a great night, a delicious meal, and help support the women, men and children that are served by this vital organization.

The money that is raised through restaurant participation, sponsorships and diner donations helps support free essential services to those living with, affected by, and at risk for HIV/AIDS. This includes keeping their food bank stocked, providing clients with emergency financial assistance, counseling, support groups and transportation to medical appointments.

You will have a chance to make a personal donation and be entered into a draw to win Downtown Dollars. A full 38% of the total money raised comes from the donor envelopes that night.

David Chapman of David’s Bistro has participated in the event for all 10 years of its existence.

“When first approached to participate in the inaugural event, we wanted to be a part of it but had no idea how popular it would become,” said David. “From 12 restaurants to 29 this year, I guess you could say it certainly is a success. The reason for its popularity is twofold. Number one,  as George Bernard Shaw said, “There is no love sincerer than the love of food.” Number two, there is nothing more rewarding than knowing you have made a difference. I also believe it reflects the kind heartedness and generosity of the restaurant community.”
